Course Overview

We recommend that Chambers School of Business (CSB) BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) course for business professionals who are looking to further develop their knowledge and skills. They might undertake this course with aim to achieve success in areas such as professional development, sustainability practices, employee selection and business risks.

Conversely, it may also apply to those with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.

This course aims to develop knowledge of business functions by explaining and drawing on modern practices and methods to achieve business objectives. It has a holistic approach to the role of the business environment within industry and society and promotes the ability to identify factors that impact most on efficient business operations.

Course Duration: 52 Weeks.

Who Should Undertake This Qualification

This qualification is aimed at students who would like to enhance their skills and knowledge to create further educational and employment opportunities for themselves. CSB identifies the following two distinct groups of potential learners for this course.

Target Group 1

The first target group for this qualification is for existing business professionals requiring a formal qualification through recognition of prior learning. This group of candidates will normally consist of:

  • Senior Administrator
  • Senior Executive
  • General Manager
  • Area Manager etc.

Target Group 2

This group of candidates will normally consist of:

  • People looking for a career change
  • People who need this qualification for employment purposes
  • People seeking a formal qualification
  • People with some business experience seeking a formal qualification
  • People taking on an executive role within their organisation and seeking a formal qualification

Student Entry Requirements

CSB will provide BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) program to students who have industry experience, with or without a qualification, and to those who wish to obtain a management qualification for employment purposes. However, students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have successfully completed the BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management (or equivalent) or a bachelor degree (or equivalent);
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs (if required);
  • People of mature age (over 21) who have not completed Year 12 will be considered for enrolment in this course. Their eligibility will be assessed on a case by case basis considering their work experience and aptitude. .

Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements.

Technology Requirements:
All students entering BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) are expected to:

  • Have the ability to produce and present high-level word-processed documents/reports of several pages.
  • Have the ability to obtain, interpret, evaluate and present information from a variety of sources (reading or the internet or via other assistive technology);
  • Have the ability to analyse, research and provide statistical data based on specific business trends.

International students must:

  • Have a valid IELTS* score of 5.5 or equivalent. English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
  • Studied for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test.

Note:

Other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL will be accepted. Students are required to provide their results of other English language tests for confirmation of their equivalence to IELTS 5.5.

Students must show certified proof of their proficiency or proof of having passed an appropriate English Language Test within the last two years.

Language, Literacy & Numeracy

The students will also be required to undertake an LLN test to identify if they will require additional learning support and if the identified level of additional support is within CSB capabilities to deliver. Based on the group of students that this course is designed for all are expected to have high- level of LLN capabilities.

Learner Support

Each BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) student must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test. Upon reviewing the results of LLN Test, CSB will determine if support services and reasonable adjustments are required for any student.

Reasonable adjustment options are available to accommodate students who have non-standard learning needs. Any reasonable adjustments that are made to BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) training materials and/or assessments will be recorded in the student’s training plan and file.

Unique Student Identifier

Each student must provide their USI (Unique Student Identifier) before they are to commence their studies. If you do not have a USI, you can create one at:

CSB will assist students to create their USI if required. Students must contact CSB Reception Desk at 02 8820 0205 if they face any challenges with creating their USI.

Assessment Requirements & Overview

Each unit of competency in BSB80120 – Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) comprises of assessment tasks such as Theoretical Questions, Projects, Case Studies, Role-plays, Presentations, Portfolio of Evidence must be completed in full before being submitted for marking. Assessments for qualifications are competency based, which means students are assessed against the unit of competency (unit) requirements

Assessment marking system:

  • Competent (C) result: the student’s submitted work satisfies the learning requirements and all competency standards for the unit (in accordance with the National Register www.training.gov.au).
  • Not Yet Competent (NYC) result: the student’s submitted work does not demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in the unit. If a student receives a ‘Not Yet Competent’ outcome, he or she will receive written feedback from a trainer/assessor, clearly outlining where the gaps are. The student will then be required to rectify these gaps and re-submit their assessment for marking.

Once a student receives a satisfactory result for all required assessment tasks a competent (C) outcome will be awarded for the entire unit. The student must demonstrate their understanding of all competency standards in each unit before receiving a competent outcome.

Students have three (3) attempts to demonstrate competency, otherwise a unit re-enrolment fee applies (please see fee schedule contained in the Student Handbook).
